Naples, 1930s. DCI Luigi Alfredo Ricciardi leaves no crime unsolved, being able to see the ghosts of people who have died. When a famous tenor and personal friend of the Duce is found dead, Ricciardi is called to solve the case.

Carmela Calise is a fortune teller with the power to invert the future, and a loan-shark. When she is found dead, Ricciardi is called to investigate the case. His investigation leads to the first meeting between him and Enrica.

While Ricciardi and Enrica seem to get closer, the beautiful Duchess of Camparino is found dead. There are many clues that lead to her killer. Meanwhile, Livia returns and settles in Naples, determined to win Ricciardi's heart.

The body of Matteo Diotallevi, one the many children living in the streets, is found near Capodimonte. At first glance, he appears to have died of starvation, but soon Ricciardi discovers that his death was caused by poisoning.
